Dr. Leavis studies leptin, the hormone involved in regulation of intake and expenditure of energy, as it relates to reproductive disorders and cancer; protein-protein interactions in thin filament regulation of skeletal and cardiac muscle contraction; and development of peptide drugs as anticancer agents.
