Dr. Alan Jette, Director of Boston University Health & Disability Research Institute, to Deliver Dudley Allen Sargent Lecture
(Boston) – A leading authority on health policy and disability research, Alan M. Jette, PT, Ph.D., will deliver the 14th annual Dudley Allen Sargent Distinguished Lecture at Boston University College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College on November 7th. The event will begin at 4pm at Sargent College, 635 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 101. Dr. Jette’s lecture, titled “Face Into the Storm”, will focus on the fundamental changes occurring within healthcare as we face the challenges of limited access to services and unsustainable cost escalation.
Dr. Jette serves as director of the Health & Disability Research Institute and professor of Health Policy & Management at Boston University School of Public Health. He also directs the Boston Rehabilitation Outcome Measurement Center, serves on the Executive Committee of the Boston Claude Pepper Older Americans Independence Center, and is Director of the New England Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center. He served as dean of Boston University College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College from 1996-2004.
Dr. Jette’s work focuses on the development and dissemination of contemporary outcome measurement instruments to evaluate the quality of health care. He chaired the Institute of Medicine’s 2007 study and report, The Future of Disability in America, which highlights disability priorities for the nation.
He received a B.S in physical therapy from the State University of New York at Buffalo and an M.P.H. and Ph.D. in public health from the University of Michigan.
The Dudley Allen Sargent Distinguished Lecture Series was established in 1999 to honor Sargent College founder Dudley Allen Sargent, M.D., whose mission to provide students with comprehensive health care training “to fortify well people; to strengthen the weak; and to restore the disabled to more normal function” continues at the College today.
