Research

Professor Pedro Lasarte's teaching and research center on Spanish-American literature and culture. His published works include a critical edition of Mateo Rosas de Oquendo's Sátira a las cosas que pasan en el Pirú, año de 1598 (Madison: HSMS), and his most recent book, Lima satirizada (1598-1698): Mateo Rosas de Oquendo y Juan del Valle y Caviedes (Lima: Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2006). Professor Lasarte's publications have appeared in a number of journals, among them Hispanic Review, MLN, Colonial Latin American Review, Nueva revista de filología hispánica, Revista de estudios hispánicos, and Lexis. Professor Lasarte is a member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry.  He is Associate Editor of Calíope and serves on the Editorial Boards of Revista Iberoamericana and Colonial Latin American Review. He received a John Carter Brown Fellowship and was Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Michigan. Professor Lasarte is a member of the Peruvian Academy of Language.
