Ms Basker-Seigel has been at Boston University since 1985, teaches in the four-skills sequence, and has assisted in the development of the Spanish Reading Sequence. Students in these courses acquire the ability to read short stories, poetry, newspaper articles, and short novels in Spanish. She has co-authored a Spanish grammar textbook entitled Introduction to Spanish for Translation, designed and written to meet the goals of the Reading Sequence, and she has edited a collection of literary readings entitled Selected Readings for Translation. Along with another colleague, she has recently completed a book of custom exercises to accompany the Spanish grammar text Manual de gramática by Dozier and Iguina. She also just completed a study guide for El coronel by Gabriel García Márquez.
