Research
Professor Warren is the director of the translation seminar course in the University Professors Program and also teaches poetry courses in French. Her collection of poetry includes Each Leaf Shines Separate; Stained Glass, which won the Lamont Award from the Academy of American Poets; and Departure (W.W.Norton, 2003). She translated (with Stephen Scully) Euripides's Suppliant Women and edited two volumes of William Arrowsmith's translations and three anthologies by prison inmates.
Professor Warren has received the 92nd Street YMHA/YWHA Nation Discovery Award in poetry, the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award for Poetry, the Witter Bynner Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Award of Merit in Poetry from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies. Professor Warren is also a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. In 2004 she received the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2005 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
