Getting Started

Leasing an apartment doesn’t need to be confusing. The Boston University Rental Property Management (RPM) office has simplified the process to make finding and leasing an apartment easy.

Note: To lease online, please see the Harrison Court (Medical Campus graduate students only) and 580 Commonwealth Avenue (Charles River Campus graduate students only) pages.

Step 1 Contact us to schedule an appointment to view available apartments from our wide variety of apartment styles, sizes, and locations throughout the Charles River Campus. Apartments are also available at Harrison Court on the Medical Campus for graduate students matriculating at the Medical Campus. Call us at (617) 353-4101 or email us at rental@bu.edu to schedule an appointment.

Step 2 When you arrive at our office — located on the first floor at 19 Deerfield Street, Boston, MA 02215  on the Charles River Campus, we will show you available apartments that meet your specific requirements. We won’t waste your time showing you apartments that don’t meet your needs.

Step 3 After looking at available units, you select the apartment that best suits your needs. We suggest that you act quickly when making your selection because available apartments tend to lease quickly, particularly during the busy summer rental season, and between semesters.

Step 4 To secure the apartment of your choice, you will need to provide a deposit for the apartment. The security and key deposit are equal to one month’s rent plus $50. Deposits must be paid by check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover only). At that time, you will also sign the rental agreement and receive information regarding utilities and other matters concerning your apartment.

Step 5 The day your lease starts, visit our office and pay the first month’s rent, sign your lease, pick up your keys, and move in.

It’s as simple as that!

Unlike most area realtors and landlords, Boston University does not require that you pay a broker’s fee or the last month’s rent in advance. We believe that leasing your new apartment should be as easy and stress-free as possible.

For additional information about Boston University apartments, please contact us by telephone at (617) 353 4101, email us at rental@bu.edu, or visit us at our 19 Deerfield Street office located on the Charles River Campus.
