Shawna AltenburgerI was born and raised in beautiful Streetsboro, Ohio. I have my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Wright State University. I became passionate about student affairs through my undergraduate work in Greek Life and decided to pursue my Master of Education in Student Affairs from Grand Valley State University with an assistantship in the Office of Student Life. Although I often miss the Midwest, I have enjoyed living in Boston for the past four years. Currently, I live on South Campus with my husband, Doug, and our daughter, Kendall. When I am not busy spending time with my family, I can usually be found in the GSU enjoying a delicious Loose Leafs salad and daydreaming about the moment I will finally meet my idol Kelly Clarkson.

Maggie SawadaA native of Buffalo, NY, I earned my BA in psychology from SUNY College at Fredonia. I can now call myself a true Terrier, having received my MEd in Policy, Planning & Administration from BU in May 2012. I maintain that I originally moved to the Boston area because my husband is a born-and-raised Red Sox fan from Syracuse, NY. However, anyone can tell you that I am just as big a fan, especially as October draws near. I also enjoy pitching a round of softball to my son Keenan and watching him develop into an excellent big brother to his sister, Sadie. I began working at BU as a Hall Director in Warren Towers in 2005 but have lived and worked as an Area Director in South Campus for the last few years.

Danielle DuranteI was born and raised in Massachusetts. In high school, I was on the soccer, indoor track, and softball teams. After high school, I attended Boston University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management with a concentration in Organizational Behavior. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked at Boston University’s School of Management while completing my Master of Criminal Justice, and then joined the Residence Life staff. I believe that the most rewarding part of working as a Hall Director is meeting a diverse group of individuals and providing young adults with the resources and tools to make better decisions. I love to travel, ride my bike near the beach, and try out new restaurants.
