Online CommunitiesOnline Communities Time: 75 Minutes Audience: Students, Faculty and Staff Contact Person: Learning Outcome: Participants will be exposed to various online communities that are often used by students. Description: Facebook, MySpace and You Tube are bookmarked on almost every student’s computer. Each of these websites provides users with opportunities to build “relationships” with one another. Faculty and staff members who have not explored these sights are often intrigued by the amount of personal information that users post for strangers to see. During the course of the program, we will explore how the sites are used; discuss current news and issues relating to social networking sites, especially as they relate to college campuses; and finally, discuss how these sites can be positive. |
