Scarlet Squad Application Form

FALL WELCOME WEEKEND 2008

SATURDAY AUGUST 30, 2008 AND SUNDAY AUGUST 31, 2008

This form must be submitted by May 7, 2008.

Upon submitting this form, you are automatically signed up to volunteer. You will receive an e-mail late summer letting you know if you received your first or second choice. You are able to move into your residence hall on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Noon.

Scarlet Squad Logo Student, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers are needed to help welcome all of the students returning to Boston University over Welcome Back Weekend. This weekend could not happen without the help of our many wonderful volunteers. Help share a little bit of your BU love with our returning students by being a member of the Scarlet Squad.

What is the Scarlet Squad?
For over 20 years, the Boston University community has welcomed new students to campus. The "Scarlet Squad" is the group of red-shirted, upperclassmen, faculty, staff, and alumni who greet first-year students and assist them and their families as they move into our residence halls. Participating in the Scarlet Squad is a terrific way to meet new people and give back to the Boston University community!

Volunteer Information
Each Scarlet Squad member is asked to commit to at least a five-hour shift on either Saturday or Sunday. If you are willing to help more than that, it would be greatly appreciated. You will be contacted with specific details regarding your Scarlet Squad volunteer experience once the schedule is finalized.

In return for your time, all Scarlet Squad Volunteers will:

  • get the opportunity to meet and welcome new and returning BU students
  • be able to move in early to their fall 2008 residence halls
  • receive a special Scarlet Squad T-shirt
  • receive one free meal for each shift they work
  • have a great opportunity to recruit new members for their student organizations
