The Animal Science Center (ASC) at Boston University is a team of administrative, managerial, technical, and professional staff committed to the advancement of science in collaboration with the research community by promoting the humane care and use of animals used in biomedical research and teaching.

We serve as the centralized animal resource program serving both BU's Medical Campus and Charles River Campus, overseeing veterinary medical care, animal care services, and actively participating in all animal-related facility design.

Facility Resources

Our animal care program, which has a presence on both campuses to better serve researchers' needs, consists of 71,225 square feet of animal housing and support space.

Our staff are responsible for the day-to-day care and use of animals across the University. The team is made up of an attending veterinarian, three clinical veterinarians, over 40 animal technicians, veterinary technicians, support service technicians, operations managers, and animal care supervisors.

BU's ASCThe Animal Science Center manages and oversees animal-relate... has been accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) since 1971.
