Guidelines for submissions, triggering events in Click

During the implementation of Click (the new IACUC software), protocol shells were created for all IACUC-approved protocols.  These protocol shells consist solely of the required fields that could be mapped from the approved protocol, all other fields of the protocol form were left blank.  As there are several acceptable ways to fill out the Click protocol form, it is not possible to provide a field mapping list.  A PDF reference document of the IACUC-approved protocol, with its attachments, was attached to the protocol shell and serves as the document of reference until such time all fields in the protocol shell are completed and approved by the IACUC.

The following types of submissions will trigger the requirement for all fields of a protocol form to be completed in Click. After the IACUC has reviewed and approved all completed fields of the protocol form in Click, the reference PDF will become part of the protocol history and will no longer serve as the document of reference:

  • New protocol
  • Triennial review
  • Annual review with changes
  • Experimental amendment

At this time, the following types of submissions will not trigger a requirement to complete all fields of the protocol shell:

  • Annual review with no changes
  • Personnel amendments
  • Room amendments
  • Funding changes
  • Minor administrative changes

You do not need to wait for a triggering event to complete all fields in your protocol in Click!

Should you have any questions about whether your submission qualifies as a triggering event or if you would like to arrange an individual Click training session, please contact us at IACUC@bu.edu.
