LASC New Researcher Orientation Session

Who should attend?

All personnel who work with animals.

How do I sign up?

Pre-registration is required as space is limited Cut off for registration is noon time the day before Orientation. Please fill out this form to register. Training is about 1 hr. and 15 mins. Animal facility tour to follow right afterwards, please plan 2 hours total for both.

All persons wishing access to the LASC animal facilities must:

1.LASC New Researcher Orientation Session with Facility Tours (offer Twice monthly) Pre-registration is required as space is limited, cut off for registration is noon time of the day before Orientation. See schedule below.

    2. IACUC Orientation course, Investigator Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research     Using Animals. (Offered monthly)

    3. Attend OEHS Lab Safety Training. (Need to be updated yearly)

    4. Have clearance by Occupational Health.

    Both forms need to be filled out & faxed to Occupational Health, 732 Harrison Ave. Fax# 617-638-8406

    5. Be listed on or added to an approved IACUC protocol. The Principal Investigator can add personnel by emailing the IACUC.

    6. Rodent Survival Surgery Lecture,with wet lab. IACUC required training for those performing rodent surgery (offered monthly) Check web site Calandar bottom right.

    7. Barrier Orientation Training with tour for those housing animals in 670 and W9 (offered as needed )

    8. BSL2 Orientation with tours for those housing animals in BSL-2 ( Offered as needed)

    9. Herpes B virus/ Working Safely NHP, with tours for those working with Non Human Primates and NHP tissues (Offered monthly)

HANDS ON AND MONTHLY TRAININGS

Additional hands-on training in Rodent handling, blood sampling and Injection site prcedures, Euthanasia, Rodent Anesthesia, Rodent Survival Surgery with wet labs and other animal procedures are available from Veterinary Trainer, Ranjini Abraham, DVM.
