Financial Conflict of Interest

Committees & Offices

The Provost of Boston University appoints the Charles River Campus Advisory Committee on Investigators' Conflicts of Interest. The Provost of the Boston University Medical Campus, jointly with the President of Boston Medical Center, appoints the Boston University Medical Center Advisory Committee on Investigators' Conflicts of Interest.

Each of these Committees consists of five to seven members from the faculty and administration including individuals with experience in academic scientific research and in the transfer of technologies from academia to the commercial sector. The Committees review disclosures submitted by investigators on the respective campuses that indicate that, "yes," they (or their spouse or dependent children) have significant financial interests that could reasonably appear to be affected by their research. The Committees advise, respectively, the University Provost, or the Medical Campus Provost/President of BMC as to whether a conflict of interest exists and, if so, what, if any, restrictions or conditions should be imposed to eliminate, reduce, or manage the conflict.
