Prof. Dr. Galal Hassan Galal Hussein is head of the Geophysical Exploration Department in the Desert Research Center, Cairo, Egypt. His field of work is groundwater exploration and environmental studies in arid and semi arid regions by using geophysical tools, remote sensing and GIS. He supervised several thesis and projects. He is also a topic editor in the Encyclopedia of Earth. He is a Visiting Scholar at Boston University, Center for Remote Sensing, as of June 1, 2007.

Applied geophysics – remote sensing and geographical information systems in groundwater exploration and environmental problems in Egyptian deserts.
