Dr. Meshgan Mohammed Al Awar, a candidate for the 1st Federal National Council elections in the UAE 2006, is counted among the top women achievers of the United Arab Emirates. In October 2003, Dr. Meshgan was offered Participation Certificate from the Office of Space Science (NASA) in Mars Exploration Rover Mission. She was also awarded the Middle East Women’s Achievement in 2004 for the best Social Contribution. In 1999, Dr. Meshgan was awarded the best female employee in the Dubai Government Excellence Program/UAE.

She is also the Secretary General of Zayed International Prize for the Environment and Managing editor of the Society & Environment Magazine, a publication of Zayed International Prize for the Environment, and a Steering Committee Member of Al Basama Al Beeiya (Ecological Footprint) a historic national initiative of United Arab Emirates to measure and understand the country’s ecological footprint.

1995-1996: Curriculum Councilor, Curriculum Department Ministry of Education, Dubai. My duties included reviewing existing chemistry curriculums for the secondary schools. I authored a chapter in chemistry curriculum for the GCC countries. Follow-up meetings with secondary school teachers on the new curriculum.
1990-1995 Completed Ph.D. in Cardiff. Gave demonstrations for undergraduates, supervising project students, giving lectures and seminars. Published two papers Polymer Journal 35/1994, page 2480; Polymer Preprints (American Chemical Society) 35/1/1994, page 311.
