1. How do I declare Religion as my major?
STEP 1: Go to the CAS Advising Office in CAS 105 and fill out a Declaration of Major form. STEP 2: Fill out a Personal Info Sheet at the Religion Dept., Rm. 201 (at 145 Bay State Road). STEP 3: Meet with your advisor (to be assigned by the Religion Dept. after STEPS 1-3 are completed).

2. How do I get an academic advisor?
Based on your area of concentration, the Religion department will make a determination on which faculty member would make the best suitable advisor for you. Stop by BSR 145, Suite 201, and we will provide you with all the information you need.

3. I am trying to register for classes. How do I get my Academic Advising Code?
After meeting with your academic advisor, go to BSR 145, Suite 201, and Administrative Coordinator Brenda Gardenour will provide you with the Academic Advising Code that will grant you full registration privileges.

4. How do I register for a class with Elie Wiesel?
A: The Literature of Memory series of classes offered by Elie Wiesel requires permission from his office in order to complete class registration. Students interested in taking one of these classes are asked to submit a short letter addressing the following questions: What are you studying? Will you be a senior or grad student in the Fall? Have you taken an upper-level literature class before? Why are you interested in taking the class? While there is no specific length on the letter, it should also specify the class and discussion section in which you would like to enroll. Please contact Jennifer Hoeberer at 617-363-4561 or via email her at jhoeberer@bu.edu for more information.

5. I took a class at another university similar to a class taught at Boston University. How do I find out if I can transfer those credits toward my degree?
Visit the Religion office at 145 Bay State Road and fill out a Transfer of Credit Form. Bring with you a copy of the course description or syllabus – the more information about the class the better. Then schedule an appointment with Professor Deeana Klepper, the Director of Undergraduate Studies. She will decide if the credits can be transferred and if so grant the appropriate signature. You may leave the form for him to review if he is not available.

6. I need to drop off a paper/exam for my professor. Where is the correct mail box?
Faculty mail boxes are located in BSR 145, Suite 203. These are the correct boxes for leaving materials with your professor.

7. Where do I go to pick up a paper/exam?
At 145 Bay State Road, outside Room 201, there are mail boxes that correspond with each of the classes that are offered in the current semester. They are arranged in numerical order from top to bottom starting with the 100 level courses. Faculty and teaching assistants use these boxes to drop off papers and corrected materials for students to pick up between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. NOTE: Do NOT leave materials in the drop boxes outside Room 201. Those boxes are for student pick-up only.
