The Academic Side of the Student Link
The Student Link: is your personal and secure online link to student records at Boston University. The Student Link provides access to a variety of important information. Using the Student Link system, you can view and change personal information, such as your address, view your student account, check your grades, confirm classroom locations, and much more.
To access information on the Student Link, you must have a BU login name and Kerberos password, as described at www.bu.edu/tech/accounts/kerberos/. You might already have the BU login name and Kerberos password if you have set up a BU e-mail account as described at www.bu.edu/tech/comm/email/.
For assistance, please visit the IT Help Center, located at 533 Commonwealth Avenue in Kenmore Square, or the IT Help Center @ Mugar. MED campus students may go to the Learning Resource Center in the Medical Library at 715 Albany Street, 12th Floor.
Please remember that your BU login name and Kerberos password provide access to important personal information. Safeguard your Kerberos password and do not give it to anyone. Giving your password to anyone or using anyone else’s password is prohibited by Boston University’s Conditions of Use and Policy on Computing Ethics. Any violation of this policy may be cause for disciplinary action. See www.bu.edu/tech/policies/computing-ethics/ for more details. Once you have a BU login name and Kerberos password, you will be able to access the BU network as described at www.bu.edu/tech/accounts/ and assistance will be available from the IT Help Center.
Registration by WebReg using Student Link
|WebReg:||WebReg enables you to register, add and drop classes, list or print your class schedule, and receive a summary of your status. Before WebReg can be used, you must have a BU login name and a Kerberos password. To acquire these see Getting Access section above.|
|Planner:||Using the WebReg Planner, you can choose your classes in advance of the official registration date. The Planner can be used to select and adjust your classes prior to actual registration. The Planner saves your selections until you go back and move them to your Schedule. This can be done once the registration period begins.|
|Registration:||You will need an Academic Advising Code (A.A.C.) before registration begins, if advising is required by your school. On the first day you are eligible to register, classes can quickly be moved from your Planner to your schedule. If you did not use the Planner, simply make your class selections, then add them to your schedule. During the registration period, you may register, add, drop, and change your classes as needed using WebReg.|
Academic options on Student Link
|Current Schedules:||Displays your current semester schedule.|
|Final Exam Schedule:||Available about a month prior to final exam period.|
|Classes:||Lists all the classes you have taken and the grade you received for each.|
|Grades:||Displays course grades for a selected semester.|
|External Credits and Test Scores:||Includes scores from entrance and placement tests.|
|Transcript Preview:||Displays an unofficial copy of your transcript.|
|Academic Summary:||Includes your academic status, program information, overview of semester report, registration status, and advisor’s name. Previous semester information is available.|
|Advisors:||Assigned by your college are listed here. Additionally, you may grant permission to a faculty member to access your academic records.|
Personal options on Student Link
|Address:||Update your address and phone number online.|
|Privacy Preferences:||Change the status of your privacy preference. Privacy Preferences effect your record even after graduation.|
|Identification:||Displays your full name as it appears on the University’s system with instructions on how to have changes made, if necessary.|
|Personal Profile:||View what is stored on the system for your Birth Date, Gender, Ethnicity, Marital Status, Religion, Employment, Visa, Country of Citizenship. Also view who has the right to access your records. Some of these fields may be modified by clicking on the item as instructed. If an item needs to be updated and you can not click on it please contact the Office of the University Registrar in person, by phone at 617 353-3612, or by email sent to firstname.lastname@example.org for further instructions.|
