Yellow Ribbon Program
Overview

The Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning (degree-granting colleges and universities) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with VA to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate.  Participating schools can waive up to 50% of those expenses and VA will match the same amount as the institution.

2009-2010 Boston University Yellow Ribbon Program

Boston University will be participating in the Post-9/11 GI Bill's Yellow Ribbon Program.
  • BU will participate in Yellow Ribbon Program (YRP) for the 2009 - 2010 academic year.
  • BU will provide 20 students with Yellow Ribbon scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • BU will contribute up to $2,600 per student per semester (Fall, Spring and Summer) which will be matched by the Veterans Administration.
  • Once selected, the student will be confirmed as a YRP participant for the duration of his/her course of study or program as long as BU continues to participate in the Program and VA education benefits still apply. Students must remain continuously enrolled with no leaves of absence.
  • Veterans must be registered in their course/program to be considered for YRP
  • To determine YRP eligibility, check with the Veterans Administration. (www.gibill.va.gov).
Our 20 Yellow Ribbon Scholarships have been awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year. Check back in January 2010 for information on scholarships for 2010-2011.
