Graduates may request a duplicate diploma by filling out the Diploma Replacement Form and mailing or faxing it to the Office of the University Registrar. (Please note: due to Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards, we are unable to accept requests via email attachment.)
Boston University is not responsible for diplomas which are lost in the mailing process. Appropriate fees will be assessed for duplicate diplomas requested for those which are lost in the mailing process.
The replacement cost is $25 for most diplomas. Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), and Doctor of Medicine (MD) diplomas are $35. The Diploma Replacement fee is payable by cash (in person only), check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express.
The University will make every attempt to provide a replacement diploma with applicable President/Dean signatures from your graduation year. If these are not available, current signatures will be used.
If you wish your replacement diploma to display a different name than the one printed on your original diploma and the one in our records, you must also send a completed Name Change Form with your Replacement Diploma Form. The Name Change Form must be accompanied by official documentation of your new legal name (i.e., driver’s license, marriage certificate, court order, passport).
