How does this Blue Bag System work?
During move-in your received a blue recycling bag. (If you do not have one of these bags please visit your Office of Residence Life to pick one up.) The bag is designed with two pockets to allow you to collect both your recyclable paper products and cans and bottles. Once your bag is full, please bring it down to the collection site of your residence. This site is usually located on the first floor or basement of the dormitory. However if you live in an apartment style residence you will need to bring your recyclables to the nearest dormitory or one of the two central locations in South Campus. For a complete list of on campus residence recycling locations, click here.
What can I Recycle in these Locations?
One bin is designated for mixed paper and the other is designated for commingle.

Also, there is a permanent ink cartridge collection site at University Computers in Kenmore Square. Ink cartridge and handheld electronic recycling will soon exist at all locations or be available in the dorm's Office of Residence Life.
Residence Halls: collection sites for BOTH mixed paper and commingle.
Academic Building: collection sites for MIXED PAPER ONLY.

Recycling Factoids:
Glass is 100% recyclable and producing using recycled glass to make new glass reduces related air pollution by up to 20%. In a year, Americans throw away enough office paper to build a 12 foot high wall from Los Angeles to New York. Recycling one ton of aluminum saves 27 cubic yards of landfill space. 20 cans can be made out of recycled material with the same amount of energy it takes to make one can out of new material. Recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water and 380 gallons of oilTop
