Alicia Cameron

Alicia Cameron is a dual degree Master of Theological Studies/Master of Social Work student from western Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2008 from Messiah College in Harrisburg, PA, having studied theology and peacemaking. She has been shaped strongly in her understanding and embodiment of social ethics through work in an inner-city homeless shelter, exposure to Eastern European and Middle Eastern cultural contexts as well as Anabaptist and monastic faith traditions, and finding strange joy in sustainability through canning. Her academic interests include trauma healing, ecclesial social and ecological ethics, and the integration of spirituality with social healing and peacebuilding. In her free time, you can find Alicia wandering wooded trails, reading books, drinking tea, cooking veggies, and expounding on Wendell Berry.

“As a Christian, I’ve learned to see my first priority as loving the world as the creation and image of God. In so doing, I find myself at the same intersection of peacemaking and religion as this program seeks to explore and enliven. By participating in this program I hope to garner both philosophical and practical means of cultivating the peace that my own religious tradition, among others, hopes to live out in this world.”
