Allison Bovell is a first year Masters of Divinity student from Chattanooga, TN. She majored in Religion and minored in Political Science at Birmingham-Southern College, graduating with a BA in 2010. Allison writes that she greatly enjoys doing mission and social justice work. For two summers, she worked for a youth mission camp in the Southeast and has also done service work in Ghana and Haiti. She spent a summer in Washington DC doing advocacy work as an intern for the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church.
Allison writes, “One of the most formative things in my journey, however, has been the time in college that I spent volunteering for the children and youth program at a local urban ministry center in Birmingham, AL. Here I learned the value in engaging communities in ways that seek reconciliation. In my short time here in the RCT program, I have learned the value in engaging conflict in a safe and productive way. I hope that I will be able to take the skills acquired in this program and apply them to my ministry in the future.”
