Sharhea Wade
Professional Evening MBA+ MA in Economics Montserrat, West IndiesSince her first economics course in high school, Sharhea Wade says she’s been “addicted” to finding out more about the business world and what role she could play in it.
After graduating from Bryn Mawr College with a master’s in economics and a minor in international studies, she began her business journey in earnest and is now an assistant vice president at State Street Corporation, working as a municipal bond credit analyst. Her goal? “I want to be successful in taking all three levels of the CFA and be a ‘jack of all trades’ within my department.”
The way she’s accomplishing that is by pursuing a Professional Evening MBA (PEMBA) at Questrom. “I plan to focus on finance for my MBA electives in order to progress in my current position at State Street. Overall, BU is preparing me to be a better analyst. I definitely have a better understanding of accounting due to my finance and accounting courses.”
Wade is in the midst of completing her degree at BU, but she can already see its value. “Getting my MBA? I know it’s worth it. It’s allowing me to pursue new opportunities at work and helping me handle new opportunities and added responsibilities.”
A native of the Caribbean island Montserrat, Wade also has her sights set on giving back to the communities that helped foster her growth. “I currently give my time as an alumna of the POSSE Foundation and Summer Search. I also sit on the board of directors for the Philanthropy Connection and the Boston chapter of the National Black MBA Association. Ultimately I would like to leverage the knowledge I’ve gained at Boston University, and my academic experiences, to help the future of Montserrat and the Caribbean at large.”
