Jonathan Modest
Professional Evening Health Sector MBA Framingham, MassachusettsModest isn’t just interested in the challenges and opportunities currently facing health care. He says he’s “mesmerized” by them.
Knowing how daunting health care reform can be, it’s probably good he’s got such focus. Indeed, his goal is to develop systems that support high-quality, high-efficiency, low-cost care delivery that keeps patients, their families, and providers happy. No small task.
But he’s certain Boston University Questrom School of Business is the right place to figure it out.
“The Professional Evening MBA program is incredibly valuable, as it provides an opportunity to learn from, and with, other full-time professionals from all walks of life,” Modest says. “The fact that I am able to sit in class with peers from all corners of the professional world is invaluable. I am able to gain insight from sectors of business that I have never had the privilege of seeing. This will help spread best practices and support continued learning beyond the curriculum.”
Outside of the classroom, the value only increases. “Social and learning events sponsored by the school outside of class allow me to connect with peers and professors. Curriculum provides opportunities to develop skills and case competitions allow me to gain real-world experience in areas outside of health care even though I work full time.”
Modest is also drawing on the experience he’s received on the front lines of health care. Over the past year, he’s served as Senior Administrative Manager for the Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital. In this role, he manages operations for a high volume specialty department across multiple clinic sites at a major academic medical center. In his new role he interacts with leadership, professionals and organizations across MGH and Partners to support hospital and system-wide projects that affect the Department of Urology. The goal? "Ensure that patients are receiving the right care, at the right time, in the right place, at the right cost."
With that kind of knowledge and enthusiasm, it's clear Modest is already making his mark on health care.
