Mission
The New England Alliance for Public Health Workforce Development (Alliance) is a regional public health training center funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Alliance exists to promote and facilitate collaborative education and training among academic, local, state and regional public health agencies to enhance the quality of public health services, especially for underserved areas and populations in the region.
Objectives
- Develop an academic and practice collaborative to promote workforce development
- Develop infrastructure support for the Academic members of the Alliance through joint governance, shared resources and regular discussion of practices and programs
- Increase Master of Public Health (MPH) student engagement in practice learning
- Assess the training needs of workers and their organizations in relation to the Professional Core Competencies developed by the Council on Linkages
- Develop, design and share training resources (e.g. modules, courses, curricula, and support materials) to enhance workers' knowledge, skills and abilities to provide essential public health services
- Provide training programs for through in-person and distance-accessible media to designated public health workers and instructors (e.g. train-the-trainer courses)
- Evaluate the impact of training on the workforce's ability to provide Essential Public Health Services
- Advocate for adequate workforce training and public health infrastructure
