How to Apply to the Program

number 1   The deadline for submission of all materials to the clinical psychology Ph.D. program is December 1. Applications must be submitted online, as should the personal statement and letters of recommendation. GRE scores and transcripts must be received by Boston University by December 1st. Please refer to the following site for the link to the online application: http://www.bu.edu/cas/admissions/graduate/

number 2   Take the GRE in time for results to be sent to Boston University by our application deadline of December 1. International students whose native language is not English and who did not receive their undergraduate degree from a US institution are required to take the TOEFL in addition to the GRE. The advanced subject test in psychology is recommended, yet optional for all applicants.

number 3   Obtain three or more letters of recommendation from qualified references, e.g. psychologists who served as professors or work/research supervisors. Recommenders can submit recommendations online after the applicant submits an application online. Please read the instructions on the online application for sending the online recommendation link to your recommenders.

number 4   Write a comprehensive Personal Statement detailing relevant experiences, personal interests, and career goals. You should indicate which mentors you have qualifications to work with, and therefore should consider your application, in your personal statement. See the "Who Should Apply" section for the list of mentors. Please upload your personal statement per instructions in the online application.

number 5   Send all undergraduate and graduate transcripts. The breadth and depth of one's transcript as well as the quality are important. A psychology major is neither weighted preferentially nor required, as long as the applicant has a solid background in psychology and can otherwise demonstrate he or she has tested relevant interests and is committed to a career in clinical psychology.
