Test/Performance Anxiety: While a certain amount of nervousness is common leading up to a test, Test Anxiety is when the level of anxiety before or during an exam interferes with the ability to perform adequately. You may “freeze up” or “blank out” while taking a test, unable to answer questions you may otherwise know the answers to. Test Anxiety may also interfere with your ability to study, leading to chronic procrastination or the inability to concentrate. Treatment of Test Anxiety includes examining the thoughts behind the anxiety and practicing studying or taking exams in the presence of anxiety.
