Diagnostic Evaluation:
A two-hour interview is scheduled to determine the nature of the problem and need for intervention. Diagnostic, treatment, or referral recommendations are provided over the phone within a week of the initial interview.
Treatment:
Individual psychotherapy is recommended when personal issues, no matter how minor or serious, affect one’s ability to cope with the demands of daily living or result in personal distress. We specialize in providing empirically supported treatments, which means that research has shown that the treatments are effective at reducing distressing and interfering symptoms. The type of empirically supported treatment we primarily deliver is called Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented, present-focused therapy that focuses on how to actively modify maladaptive patterns of thinking and behaving. While every treatment is individualized and designed in collaboration with our clients, clients typically meet with a therapist once per week for 10 to 20 weeks. A major goal of CBT is to teach our clients how to become their own therapists, eventually taking responsibility for designing interventions and expanding upon treatment gains.
Neuropsychological Assessment:
A Neuropsychological Assessment evaluates multiple areas of functioning, including intellectual, academic, attention, and memory. Often individuals seek Neuropsychological Assessment to understand cognitive strengths and weaknesses, clarify appropriate intervention strategies for cognitive or attentional problems, or to obtain a diagnosis to receive academic accommodations. Neuropsychological Assessments are typically conducted over 2-3 sessions, for a total of 6-8 hours. An in-person feedback session is held to discuss results, and written reports of results are available. A wide range of assessment services are available, most commonly:
