Psychology

Patricia Ganea was born and raised in Romania. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Bucharest (1996), where she studied both psychology and philosophy. In 1996 she was awarded a SOROS fellowship to study psychology at Oxford University. She received her doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of Virginia (2004). Afterwards she worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia, conducting research funded by the National Science Foundation. Her primary area of interest is early cognitive development, especially the processes involved in young children's learning about the world through symbolic means, such as language, pictures, videos, and replica objects. She has published papers in Psychological Science, Child Development, and Developmental Psychology.
