Unit/Department Commenter Instructions

If you have been assigned to examine the reports of faculty in your unit or department, log into the EAR Reviewing System. You will see the status of reports for the faculty in your unit or in your department listed.

Please refer to the column named “Report Status,” which will tell you the following:

If reports are marked “Incomplete,” this means they have not yet completed their task and you need to contact these faculty and remind them to fill out the form.

If reports are marked “Complete,” click on the word complete to read the report. You can then make comments that the Dean’s Office can view. Please note that unit or department commenters cannot mark a report reviewed. Only the Dean’s Office or their proxies can do so.

Please note, the flag option on the left hand side flags a report only for you, not your Dean’s Office.

Dean’s Office Instructions

Unit Commenter Assignment

An administrator in the Dean’s Office assigns commenters for each department (usually the Department Chair) and/or for the unit as a whole. Please contact the Office of the Provost for details on this particular process.

For large departments, multiple commenters may be assigned.
