Two years ago, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick caused quite a stir by kneeling during the national anthem prior to kickoff. Kaepernick used the gesture to protest racial inequality and police violence. Since then, the protest has spread throughout the NFL and caused a national debate on the appropriateness of the action and President Trump’s involvement. Last week, Nike made Kaepernick the face of its new ad campaign, leading to a new hashtag - #NikeBoycott.
