Faculty Recital: Terry Everson, trumpet

  • Starts: 8:00 pm on Monday, September 24, 2018

A recital with a star-studded guest roster, Terry Everson’s upcoming performance could also be named “Plays Well with Others” as Professor Everson is presenting works with friends, by friends.

On the program will be Martin Amlin’s Sonata for Trumpet and Piano, which was written for Professor Everson and will be receiving its Boston premiere here. Amlin will also accompany Everson on piano. Amlin’s Sonata will kick off a trio of Eastman alums. Amlin, Friedman, and Ewazen all attended Eastman at the same time!

Prof. Everson will also perform Stanley Friedman’s La Pittura which was premiered 25 years ago by Everson and subsequently won First Prize at the 1993 International Trumpet Guild Competition, and the Trio for Trumpet, Violin and Piano by Eric Ewazen. To close out the program, Boston University’s own Bramwell Tovey will join Prof. Everson to perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue arranged by trumpet virtuoso Timofei Dokshizer.

Additional artists performing on the program are Lynn Eustis, Lori Everson, Shiela Kibbe, and the Back Bay Brass.

This event is free and open to the public.
