Red Cross: Bone Marrow Donor Drive

  • Starts: 9:00 am on Monday, April 27, 2015
  • Ends: 3:00 pm on Monday, April 27, 2015
Join us for our bone marrow donor drive. There is currently a group going around the country hosting drives in order to get more people on the national bone marrow donor registry. The group is SAM (Sharing America's Marrow) and more information can be found on their website www.sharingamericasmarrow.com. They are looking to get more people registered as potential bone marrow donors. Some patients never find donors and unfortunately having a transplant is the only cure for many blood disorders and diseases. The drive would consist of people submitting cheek swabs to get on the registry. It takes 4 minutes for someone to sign up to become a donor. Typically, one out of every 500 people on the registry are called as potential donors.
