Global Fridays Film Screening: Miral (2011) by Julian Schnabel

  • Starts: 3:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2014
  • Ends: 5:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2014
This year, the newly inaugurated Pardee School for Global Studies has begun a new film series initiative: “Global Fridays: Promoting Cultural Understanding Through Film.” Inspired by journalist E. Nina Rothe's article “Six Films That Could Save the World” and spearheaded by the Center for the Study of Europe, the fall 2014 series - “Stories from Israel and Palestine” is a collaboration between the Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations, Middle East and North African Studies, the Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies, and the Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literatures. Screenings take place at 3 PM on Fridays throughout the semester. Click link below for full list of films. On Friday, October 17, we are screening Miral, Julian Schnabel's take on Rula Jebreal's novel, the story of four women whose lives intertwine in the starkly human search for justice, hope and reconciliation amid a world overshadowed by conflict, rage and war.
