MacGuffin Series: Once Upon a Time in Anatolia

  • Starts: 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013
  • Ends: 9:30 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013
Join the BUFS as we screen two films about crime, both with MacGuffins that uncover deeper truths about humanity. The series concludes with the 2011 Cannes Grand Prix winner, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. The film follows group of men who search for a dead body on the Anatolian steppe. As the night draws on, details about the murder emerge and the investigators' own secrets and hypocrisies come to light. In the Anatolian steppes, nothing is what it seems; and when the body is found, the real questions begin. We are fortunate to have Philosophy of Film Professor, Aaron Garrett, to introduce the film and hold a Q&A based on his research. The event counts as a CINEMATHEQUE ALTERNATIVE for Film & TV students.
