Runaway Women in the Age of Versailles

Boston University Women's Guild Tea at the Castle Join us at the Castle for the annual Winter Tea. Professor Elizabeth Goldsmith will read from and discuss her book The Kings' Mistresses': The Liberated Lives of Marie Mancini, Princess Colonna, and Her Sister Hortense, Duchess Mazarin. Her book will be available for purchase at the event. Professor Goldsmith is on the faculty of the Department of Romance Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. The author of several books, she has received fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Philosophical Society, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Newberry Library, and the NEH. She has been a visiting scholar at the American Academy in Rome and taught at Harvard University, the Dartmouth French Cultural Studies Institute, and in the NEH summer seminar program.
