Be a part of All-University Commencement

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer

Last Friday, you received an announcement sharing the details of this year’s All-University Commencement, scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at Nickerson Field, and featuring Dr. Marcia McNutt, president of the National Academy of Sciences, as our speaker.

As May 19 approaches, I invite and strongly encourage your participation in this important event. This special ceremony each year serves as both a culmination of our students’ hard work and one of the few opportunities we have as an academic community to gather as one and recognize their collective achievements.

Faculty participation has always been a cornerstone of All-University Commencement. As those whose teaching and mentoring have nurtured our graduates’ scholarly and professional development, your presence at this ceremony is greatly appreciated, not only by these students, but by their families and friends.

If you plan to march in the processional at Commencement and have not yet signed up, I ask that you please email bugrad19@bu.edu with your name and school/college. You should have received specific information regarding Commencement earlier this semester. Please remember that the faculty robing area is in Claflin Hall. The assembly area, meanwhile, can be reached via the walkway adjacent to 985 Commonwealth Avenue; University marshals will be in place to assist you. More detailed information regarding Commencement can be found at www.bu.edu/commencement.

Thank you, in advance, for joining us for what promises to be a wonderful ceremony.
