All-University Commencement

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer

The All-University Commencement scheduled for Sunday, May 20 at Nickerson Field is just about two weeks away.

If you plan to march in the processional at Commencement, I ask that you please email bugrad18@bu.edu with your name and school/college. You should have received specific information regarding Commencement earlier this semester. Please remember that the faculty robing area is in Claflin Hall. The assembly area, meanwhile, can be reached via the walkway adjacent to 985 Commonwealth Avenue; University marshals will be in place to assist you. More detailed information regarding Commencement can be found at www.bu.edu/commencement.

John Lewis, U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s Fifth District, will deliver Boston University’s 145th Commencement Address during the ceremony. Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto, mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, will deliver the Baccalaureate Address earlier in the day at Marsh Chapel. Both will receive honorary degrees.

Others who will receive honorary degrees are: Vibha Bakshi, filmmaker and journalist; Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; and Zhang Yimou, noted actor, director, producer, and filmmaker.

Your presence at Commencement is greatly appreciated by our graduates and their families and friends. I hope you will join us for what promises to be a wonderful ceremony.
