NCAA Compliance

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost & Chief Academic Officer
and Todd Klipp, Senior Vice President, Senior Counsel, and Secretary of the Board of Trustees

Boston University supports an intercollegiate athletics program that strives for excellence in sportsmanship, academics, and community while competing within the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I environment. This affiliation carries with it a responsibility to follow the extensive rules and regulations of the NCAA. As a member of the BU community, you may have interactions with prospective and enrolled student-athletes that could affect our compliance with these rules.

A brochure, entitled “Compliance Guide for Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Friends 2017-18” (which may be accessed online at the following link: www.goterriers.com/playbytherules), provides basic information and guidance concerning NCAA rules in a straightforward format that highlights common problem areas. Although it does not cover all possible scenarios, it is a helpful primer on the most frequently asked questions.

Please take a moment to review this brochure and use it as a guide to helping the Department of Athletics remain in compliance with NCAA rules. Should you have any questions or need advice regarding specific situations, please contact Assistant Vice President and Director of Athletics Drew Marrochello at 617-353-4631 or bmkane@bu.edu.

Thank you for your assistance in this important matter.
