BU Hosts International Education Week, Nov. 11-16

November 9th, 2012

From Dr. Jean Morrison, University Provost and Chief Academic Officer and
Willis Wang, VP and Associate Provost for Global Programs

Next week, Boston University will host its first ever International Education Week. As a global research institution, BU has a mission of not only providing students with the tools they need to succeed in the workplace, but with a sense of their place in a larger world and an engagement with the cultures, scholarship and diversity of experience that help to make us who we are. We also place high value on the engagement of faculty, staff and students with communities close to home and around the world.

It is hard to imagine a better extension of this mission than than our inaugural International Education Week and the opportunities for exploration it affords the BU community across our Charles River and Medical campuses. International Education Week represents more than a simple roster of events and activities, but rather an unrivaled bridge connecting continents, cultures and disciplines – from politics and public health to history, economics and gastronomy across Africa, Asia, and Europe – and, in turn, connecting students, faculty and staff with the growing global dimensions and capabilities of the BU community.

We are excited to host this week and look forward to the new conversations and opportunities for intellectual engagement and enjoyment it helps to spark. For more information and event details, please visit http://www.bu.edu/globalprograms/iew/.
