Attention Prospective Sophomores:
PEER MENTOR POSITIONS
A WISE@Warren Peer Mentor is a sophomore majoring in science, engineering or math, who lives on the WISE@Warren floor. As a Peer Mentor, you will mentor ~5 incoming freshmen on the floor. The overall role of a Peer Mentor is to help your freshmen successfully transition to the university and to create a strong, connected community.
Requirements:
- Female majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) desciplines who will be a sophomore in September
- Limited to students who have already made their housing guaranty payment of 2012-2013 (If you already have a room assignment and are selected for this position, housing will arrange to change your assignment)
Responsibilities:
- Mentor incoming freshmen (approximately 5 students) by helping to orient them to BU in the fall and by monitoring their progress over the year
- Help to organize one Tuesday evening FY101 class meetings per semester
- Foster a collaborative and supportive climate on the floor
Benefits:
- Assignment to large corner double room on the floor (you may indicate the name of another applicant with whom you wish to room)
- Book allowance of $100 per semester
- Interaction with faculty members outside of class
- Access to information about career and research opportunities
