Language Buddies and Virtual Language Maintenance
ROTC Cadets/Midshipmen at BU already enrolled during the academic year in any critical-language course at Boston University (including not only Arabic, Chinese, or Russian but also Hindi-Urdu, Korean, Persian, Turkish, or an African language) can be assigned a Language Buddy mentor. The Language Buddies are advanced students in the respective language or trained native speakers who can provide you with free study help and cultural enrichment.
The Language Buddies program aims to support ROTC students by minimizing language-learning anxiety and providing a relaxed and fun learning atmosphere as well as opportunities to develop cultural awareness.
In addition, Virtual Language Maintenance is offered to Project GO-BU alums of summer programs, both domestic and abroad. The students will use digital conferencing to meet during the academic year with their former language buddy and fellow PGO classmates to receive language support. The content of these meetings will be tailored to the support requirements of the students. Students can participate free of charge.
