The 1952 Massachusetts Senate race pitted two of the state’s most distinguished families against each other: the Republican Lodges and the Democratic Kennedys. On the 50th anniversary of the race, presidential historian Tom Whalen, author of Kennedy versus Lodge: The 1952 Massachusetts Senate Race, discusses the race that marked the beginning of the Kennedy political dynasty.
