Dartmouth president nominated to head World Bank

March 23rd, 2012

President Obama has nominated Dartmouth president Jim Yong Kim to be the next head of the World Bank. Robert Meenan is dean of BU’s School of Public Health. He is also the chair of the Department of Sociomedical Sciences and a professor of health policy and management. He offers the following comment on the nomination:

“Public health expertise will be an asset to the World Bank as it increasingly confronts global challenges related to poverty, environmental issues, and access to quality health care. The breadth of Dr. Kim’s work experience, at the WHO,and at Partners in Health, make him a solid candidate.”
