Public school budget increases can create success

November 22nd, 2011

Last week, Hardin Coleman, Dean of theĀ School of Education, had the opportunity to visit the Orchard Gardens K – 8 School in Roxbury, MA. While there, he saw first-hand how a 15 percent increase in the school’s budget has helped take the school from one of the worst performing in the state and put it on a new trajectory for future success.

He believes similar types of budget incentives could help many more failing or under-performing public schools across the country.
