monthly portfolio reviews by the prc curator

Monthly porftiolio reviews by the PRC Curator, Leslie K. Brown, is a free benefit of PRC membership. The purpose of these sessions is up to you--from providing feedback on your work to help with editing. Please note, you must be a member to sign up and members are alloted one review per year. Click here to discover more details about becoming a member of the prc.

Work that is photographically-based in the broadest conception is welcomed. Seeing prints is preferred and please bring a personal statement, a biography or resume, and any other supporting materials (please no slides or computer presentations, unless that is your output). If you wish to leave images and information, please bring a self-addressed stamped envelope and expect us to have your materials for up to a year.

Portfolio reviews are held once a month on specified Mondays and each slot is 30 minutes long. Reservations are accepted on a first-call, first-served basis. Please sign up for our e-newsletter via the PRC homepage or consult the most recent PRC newletter to find out the next portfolio dates and corresponding call-in dates.

BU's George Sherman Union, 3rd Floor Conference Room 310, 775 Commonwealth Ave. Boston

This sequential program, offered twice a year with a different instructor, provides an in-depth opportunity to share and receive feedback on your work in a small group setting and supportive environment. The Portfolio Project is designed to offer guidance and insight for those interested in refining their portfolio and progressing in their practice, while working with members of our photo community. Participants will be expected to actively create and edit in between sessions based on class discussions, so by the end of the program participants will have a stronger, more cohesive body of work. Participants are also expected to begin the program with a pre-existing body of work upon which they can build. Participants will have the opportunity to share their work at the completion of the program during a public portfolio sharing.

The Portfolio Project will be facilitated by a different artist, instructor, or photography professional, each semester. Fine art and commercial photographer Cig Harvey will lead this second installment. Harvey's work has been exhibited extensively at organizations such as the Robin Rice Gallery, the Maine Center for Contemporary Art, the Art Institute of Boston, and is in the collections of major institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the George Eastman House. Her clients include O Magazine , kate spade, Ralph Lauren, the Wyndham Hotel Group, and Health Magazine . Harvey was recently named one of Photo District News ' 30 “New and Emerging Photographers to Watch.” She is represented by Robin Rice Gallery in New York City.
