Julie Melton, Donna, Deerfield Hutterite Colony, 2000, Gelatin silver print, 14 x 14 inches, Courtesy of the artist

Donna uses her apron to warm her arms in the October breeze. Hutterite women make all of the colony's clothing. Women's dresses are made from a dark-colored rayon and usually have a subtle floral, polka dot, or plaid pattern.
