EXPOSURE: The 19th Annual PRC Juried Exhibition
Juror: Kristen Gresh, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Assistant Curator of Photographs, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
The PRC is honored and excited to announce its annual exhibition, juried by our esteemed 2015 juror: Kristen Gresh, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Assistant Curator of Photographs, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Gresh selected 13 out of 194 entries as well as the individual pieces. Each EXPOSURE artist shows several works each, making for an in-depth exploration of their series and an enriching experience for audiences as well.
THANKS to everyone who entered and CONGRATS to those selected, noted below! As we were not able to offer EXPOSURE last year, the volunteers of the PRC were heartened and delighted with the outpouring and overall support. Mark your calendars for the opening celebration, June 18th − many of the artists and juror will be in attendance − and a TBA gallery talk by Gresh in July!

Kristen Gresh was appointed Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Assistant Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), in January 2012. She was the curator of the recent exhibition at the MFA, She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World, and is the author of the exhibition’s companion publication. Gresh first discovered the powerful work created by women from this region while living abroad for 15 years, teaching history of photography at the Ecole du Louvre, Wells College in Paris and at the American University of Cairo.
Gresh was also a contributor to the auction book and catalog The Photo Diary of John G. Morris (2010) and to the books On Display: Visual Politics, Material Culture, and Public Education (forthcoming), and Getting the Picture: The History & Visual Culture of the News (2015). Her Ph.D. dissertation from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales was titled, “The Family of Man: A Critical History of an American Photographic Exhibition,” parts of which have been published in the academic journals Etudes Photographiques and History of Photography. Gresh recently juried the 2015 Wheaton Biennial: Photography Beyond the Frame (February 27 - April 10, 2015) at Wheaton College.
PRC Juried Show History:
EXPOSURE is a great opportunity to view a slice of the best and brightest as selected by a nationally-renowned juror. In celebration of the PRC's 30th anniversary in the 2006/2007 academic year and to reflect more accurately the mission and function of our annual photography competition, we changed the name of the PRC Members' Exhibition to EXPOSURE: The Annual PRC Juried Exhibition. Past exhibiting photographers have included Claire Beckett, Victoria Crayhon, Eliot Dudik, Dave Jordano, Benjamin Lowy, Neeta Madahar, Rania Matar, Irina Rozovsky, Tara Sellios, Steve Smith, Martin Stupich, among many others.
EXPOSURE 2015 is sponsored in part by the Hegner Family Foundation.
Current PRC Individual or Institutional Membership required (valid through July 31, 2015). Renew or join at our website: www.prcboston.org/individual.htm.
We are including this year's Call information in the right column for reference. Thank you for entering and stay tuned for next year's juror announcement!
The PRC invites entries for EXPOSURE: The 19th Annual PRC Juried Exhibition and seeks a broad range work, including both traditional and non-traditional approaches to photography. Since its inception in 1996, over 300 photographers have shown in the PRC Juried Exhibitions—including an array of established photographers and those cited as “ones to watch.”Each year, a respected member of the photographic community—from curators to gallerists to photo editors—is asked to select 10 to 15 artists. The curator then selects between two and five pieces per person, thus offering artists the opportunity to showcase a series at a deeper level and making for an enriching experience for audiences as well.
Entry Fee: $40
Submission: Photographers may submit up to ten (10) images from a cohesive, exhibition-ready body of work, artist statement, and resume.
Deadline: April 12, 2015 (before 11:59pm)
Method and More Details: This year we are using CaFÉ, a popular and easy-to-use online application system. You will need to sign up for a free account from the CaFÉ homepage (if you applied to the MCC fellowship this year or any other call that uses this system, you already have an account). More information and instructions are contained in the call and forms; please read over those and the legal agreement carefully.
