ONLINE BIDDING INFORMATION
To bid on an auction item via the web, click on the "Place a Bid" button. In your email, be sure to include following information:

Your Name
Your Address
Your Phone Number
Credit Card Information (Mastercard or Visa)
Lot Number
Artist Name
Title
Bid Amount

Absentee email bids will be executed at the lowest possible price, subject to the reserve price and other bids. If two or more parties have entered matching bids, the earliest shall take preference. A credit card is necessary in order to hold your bid. It will not be charged unless you are highest bidder. Should you not wish give credit card information, a PRC staff member can contact you for payment information.

Auction items 1 - 33 will be offered through the Live Auction. Items beyond that number will be offered through the Silent Auction. However, absentee email bids may be made on any auction item.


All of the artworks in the PRC Benefit Auction are provided framed. However, should the piece need to be shipped, it might need to be unframed (if framed using glass) and we may not be able to provide the frame or the glass.

Any
SILENT auction item can be purchased outright by paying 150% of the listed retail value. To place your buy it now bid, follow the instructions above.

CONDITIONS OF SALE
If a lot is subject to a reserve (a confidential minimum price below which the lot will not be sold), we will implement reserve bidding on behalf of the consignor. Consignors are not allowed to bid on their own items.

Absentee bids will be accepted by email, mail, or telephone through 12pm, October 23, 2008. Absentee bid forms are available at the PRC auction registration desk. Absentee bids will be executed at the lowest possible price, subject to the reserve price and other bids. If two or more parties have entered matching bids, the earliest shall take preference. We make no representation as to condition of any lot sold except where noted in this catalog, and generally no reference to imperfection is made in the catalog description. All lots are sold as is. Prospective purchasers should personally view lots offered for sale to evaluate their condition.

Final bids for each item will be recorded by bid number, and the print will be held at the cashier's desk until called for by the buyer. All purchases must be paid in full on the day of the auction.

The prints available in this auction have been matted and framed (with either plexiglass or glass) before the sale for protection. All prints are sold matted and framed as is.

Payment will be made in the form of cash, personal check (with proper identification), or Visa/Mastercard. We will add the Massachusetts state sales tax to all in-state purchases.

As noted above, all of the artworks in the PRC Benefit Auction are framed. The PRC will pack or ship purchased lots, only at the request and cost of the purchaser. However, should the piece need to be shipped, it might need to be unframed (if framed using glass) and we might not be able to provide the frame or the glass. Packing/shipping is done entirely risk of the purchaser.

Purchased items must be picked up by 12pm, November 7, 2008. The PRC will not be responsible for storing purchased items.

 

GLOSSARY FOR PHOTOGRAPHS
The following explains the terminology used in this catalog. Please note that statements and terms in this catalogue are subject to provisions of the Conditions of Sale and that the Photographic Resource Center makes no warranties or representations with any lot.

Authorship
The name in bold type indicates the photographer who, in our best judgment, is the author of the work (no unqualified statement regarding authorship is made or intended). If not of the collection of the artist, provenance is indicated.

Title
The title, either as given by the photographer or by which the photograph is generally known, appears in italics.

Date
When one is given, it refers generally to the date of the printing, not necessarily when the negative was created. In every instance, the PRC has used dates provided by the artists.

Measurement
Given in inches, the measurement can refer to image size, or paper size. The PRC has used sizes provided by the artists. Edition indicates the number of prints made of the particular image, and what number this particular print is in the series.

Edition
Indicates the number of prints made of the particular images, and what number this particular print is in the series. For example, 3/15 indicates that the photograph is the 3rd print out of an edition of 15. AP stands for Artist's Proof.

Signature
If signed, signature's location is noted in the caption with verso meaning back and recto meaning front.

Condition
In this catalogue, the Photographic Resource Center has made no attempt to qualitatively describe the condition of the photographs and makes no guarantees regarding their condition
