John Goodman's work has been published and exhibited extensively. His work is in numerous collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Fine Art, Boston; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A retrospective was mounted by the Art Institute of Boston in 2004. Goodman's work was included in the MFA/Boston's 100 years of Fashion exhibition last year and the Howard Yezerski Galley exhibited John's " Moving Pictures" this past February.  Goodman recently curated " Minor Impact" 16 photographer's influenced by his mentor Minor White which opened at the Howard Greenberg Gallery in NYC this September.  
Joyce Carol Oates reviewing Goodman's book The Times Square Gym states that "Goodman's ...skill at capturing what may be called aesthetic sympathy is riveting....his intention is to make us feel, and not merely see."
Goodman is represented by Howard Yezerski Gallery in Boston and Michael Hoppen Gallery in London.
He is on the  faculty of the Art Institute of Boston and also teaches at the Maine Media Workshops
